Changes in eSNAP Delegation (PPT)
Dr. Sandra Brown, Vice Chancellor for Research, issued a campus notice on February 10, 2011 (http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/Notices/2011/2011-2-10-1.html) informing the research community that effective February 16, 2011 Principal Investigators were delegated authority to directly submit NIH Electronic Streamlined Non-Competing Award Process (eSNAP) progress reports via the NIH eRA Commons.

The informational sessions discussed Major NIH changes that will affect grant proposal submissions starting with the January 25, 2011 deadline, including the elimination of the error correction window. Other important information presented includes the implications of all the changes at NIH and new proposal timelines to ensure successful grant submissions.

Special Presentation by Cheryl Kitt, PhD, Deputy Director of CSR (PPT)
On November 17, 2010, Dr. Cheryl Kitt, Deputy Director of NIH's Center for Scientific Review (CSR), was on hand at UCSD to meet with faculty and staff interested in NIH proposal submissions. During her visit, she spoke and presented materials pertaining to grant submissions and the peer review process, recent changes to NIH applications, as well as, she offered key insights and tips for successful submissions from CSR's perspective, such as enhanced review criteria and application scoring. The hints and tips she offered throughout the presentation were geared to early stage and new investigators and administrators new to working with NIH proposals. This session was recently re-presented by HS SPPO on February 23, 2011. The presentation is beneficial to administrators who assist in the proposal preparation process as well as current and soon-to-be early stage and new investigators.
